From October, Unions Can Request Access to Your Workplace. Are You Ready?

About This Workshop

From October, trade unions gain a new legal right to request access to workplaces, including through digital channels such as email and internal communications. Most SMEs, charities and churches have never had to think about union engagement, and that changes once this right takes effect.

The exact detail of how this will work in practice is still being finalised by government, but the direction is clear and businesses need to start preparing now. This session cuts through the noise on what we know so far. You'll leave understanding what's changing, what a formal access request is likely to look like and what to check now.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand what the new right of access covers, and what's still to be confirmed
  • Learn what a formal access request is likely to look like and the general timescales involved
  • Recognise the readiness gaps most businesses don't know they have yet
  • Leave with a clear checklist of what to review before October
