Recommendation
We recommend organisations send all line managers, not just those dealing with an active issue. Building consistent knowledge across your management team reduces risk and builds confidence before problems arise.
leadership & management training
You'll learn how to recognise when an issue needs a more formal approach, understand your role in investigations and disciplinary processes and know when and how to work with HR.
Through realistic scenarios and practical discussion, you'll build the confidence to respond fairly, consistently and appropriately when concerns arise.
Confidence to get it right
If you manage people, at some point you'll face a conduct or performance issue, whether you're new to the role or you've led a team for years.
Handled well, an investigation or disciplinary protects everyone: a fair hearing for the employee, legal protection for the organisation and a manager who comes through it with their integrity intact.
Handled badly, it risks a tribunal claim, and employment judges measure "fair" against the ACAS Code of Practice, not good intentions.
This session gives any line manager, at any stage, the grounding to spot what fair looks like, know when to call in HR and handle the conversation with confidence.
Open session
Open session price: £595+VAT per organisation
Client hours usage: 6 hours (business) / 8 hours (charity/church)
This practical two-hour session is designed for managers who deal with people issues in their teams. Rather than focusing on legal definitions or policy terminology, it takes a real-world approach to managing concerns appropriately, understanding when formal action may be needed and how to work effectively alongside HR throughout.
The session includes realistic workplace scenarios, discussion activities and practical examples to help bring the learning to life in a way that feels relevant and immediately applicable.
It's open to participants from a range of organisations and sectors, which creates a valuable environment for managers to hear different approaches, share real experiences and recognise that these situations are challenging for everyone, not just them.
This session is suitable for you if you're:
No specialist HR knowledge is required.
